旧俗结婚之前，男家请星命家挑选吉日后送交女家，谓之“送日期”或“送日子”。
《金陵雜誌》：男家欲迎娶，先將男女八字，送星命家諏吉，必使無沖犯、無刑剋之良辰，以紅全柬上記新人沐浴宜何時，水傾何方，上轎何時，合何時，避忌何人，皆歷歷書之，送至女家，謂之“送日子”。今俗或云“送日期”是也。
