释义	約翰牛 yuē hàn niú 详细释义英国或英国人的绰号。十八世纪英国作家约翰·阿布什诺特（John Arbuthnot 1667—1735）在其著作《约翰·布尔的历史》一书中，塑造了一个矮胖而愚笨的绅士约翰·布尔的形象，以之讽刺当时辉格党的战争政策。英语“布尔”（bull）是“牛”的意思，故译约翰·布尔为“约翰牛”。后因以此为英国或英国人的绰号。
