每月内的忌日。旧俗以夏历每月初五、十四、二十三逢中宫之日为月忌，凡事必避之。古代术数家以九宫与日期相配，初一为一宫、初二为二宫、初五为五宫（即中宫）、初九为九宫，而宫数尽，至初十复至一宫，循环数中，则十四、二十三均逢中宫。中宫为星位之极，至尊之地，故当避忌。
陰陽家書云：月忌是廉貞直日，即獨火星也。
阴阳家书云：月忌是廉贞直日，即独火星也。
