音，古有二解。孔（孔颖达）疏引服虔云：“鹿得美草，呦呦相呼；至于困迫将死，不暇复择善音，急之至也。”此读音如字。杜（杜预）注：“音，所薅荫之处。古字声同，皆相假借。”此读音为荫。《庄子·人间世篇》云：“兽死不择音，气息茀然。”则先秦人实解音为声音。《后汉书·皇甫规传》载其上疏自讼云：“臣虽污秽，廉洁无闻。今见覆没，耻痛实深。《传》称‘鹿死不择音’，谨冒昧略上。”亦以音为声音，则服说合本义。 —杨伯峻注
