【名】 清代雍正时开始设立的辅佐皇帝处理军政事务的机要机构。
详细释义
清代辅佐皇帝的政务机构。任职者无定员，由亲王、大学士、尚书、侍郎或京堂充任，称为军机大臣。其僚属称为军机章京。职掌为每日晋见皇帝，商承处理军国要务，用面奉谕旨的名义对各部门各地方负责官员发布指示。
初設議政處，令鞏阿岱等爲議政大臣，參畫軍要。雍正十年，用兵西北，慮儤直者洩機密，始設軍機房，後改軍機處。
